Hi, my name is miss contarino. I'm a teacher at PS1 O one. And through this video, I will be teaching you how to tell time in different ways. In this example, I have my red, large, men in hand on the 6. My smaller hands, the hour hand, is between the 12 and the one. The time here is one 30. Or you could read it as half. Passed. One. It could be read as half past one because there are 60 minutes in an hour. When we get half, way around the clock, we are at the 30 minute mark. Or the 6 on an analog plaque. When you get to the 6 on an analog clock, it could be read as half, past the hour, or halfway to the next hour. In my next example, the red, smaller hour hands is on the 11th. The minute hand, the larger blue hands, is on the three, or the 15 minute mark. This time can be read as 11 15 or a quarter. Past 11. If we cut our clock in half, down the middle, and then in half, again, we have cut our clock into fourths. One fourth. Is 15 minutes. If you see here. 5, ten, 15. Another fourth. 5, ten, 15. 5, ten, 15, 5, ten, 15. So each fourth is 15 minutes. Or a quarter of an hour. Another commonly read time is a quarter to the hour in this example, it is ten, 45. Or a quarter. Two, 11, because you have a quarter oven hour, till the next hour, 11 o'clock. Remember a quarter of an hour is 15 minutes. 5, ten, 15. Some other commonly read times are ten after the hour. Here, my minute, hands is pointing to the two, which is 5, ten minutes after the hour. My hour hands is pointing to the 12. It is 12. Ten. Or ten. After. 12. My last example will be drawing my glue, large minute hands to the a and my small hour hand. Between the two and the three in this example, the time is two, 40. It could also be red as 20. Two, three. Because there are 20 minutes until 3 o'clock. Here we see that the minute hand is on the 8, which is the 40 minute mark. So if you count by 5s with me, 5, ten, 15, 20 minutes until the new hour. You could also. Read 20 minutes after the hour. If we too, my minute hand to the fore. Like small. Our hands. To the two. It's time to be read as two, 20, or 20. After two. Count with me. It's 20 minutes after the hour of two. 5, ten, 15, 20.
