The Water Cycle - Mr. Oats hydrologic cycle Mr. O©2018 Water Cycle Rap It all starts when the suns rays strike the ocean Water turns to gas that’s evaporation When the water forms a cloud, that’s condensation When the water starts falling that’s precipitation When water is collected that’s called collection It’s collected in lakes, rivers, streams and oceans Then the waters recycled all over again! This is the hydrologic or the water system. 1.The Water Cycle is: the natural sequence through which water passesinto the atmosphere as water vapor, precipitatesto earth in liquid or solid form, and ultimatelyreturns to the atmosphere through evaporation. 2. Evaporation occurs when: Evaporation happens when atoms or molecules escape from the liquid and turn into a vapor. 3. Transpiration is the process where plants absorb water through the roots and then give off water vapor through pores in their leaves. 4. Evapotranspiration is when water is transferred from the land to the atmosphere by evaporation from the soil and other surfaces and by transpiration from plants. 5. The conversion of a vapor or gas to a liquid. 6. Precipitation is when rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground. 7. groundwater-water held underground in the soil or in pores and crevices in rock. 8. Runoff is water, from rain, snowmelt, or other sources, that flows over the land surface, 9. Infiltration is the process by which water on the ground surface enters the soil.
