The Silverdust Tree
College and University / Business
This story, written and illustrated by Gina DeCecco, is about a special tree that lies in the vibrant Fairy Forest – the Silverdust Tree, home to the Silverdust fairy family. When a tornado crosses through Fairy Forest and knocks down all of the other trees, the Silverdust Tree is the only tree that remains tall and beautiful. A greedy businessman, Mr. Edgar Robinson, comes across the vast land that was once Fairy Forest and wants to build hotels there. So, he chops down the tree. When he returns the next morning, the tree is standing taller than ever before. He is shocked and chops it down for a second time. But, still, the tree would grow back the following day. One night, the mother of the Silverdust family shows up at his home while he is sleeping and asks him to stop chopping down her family’s home. If he stops, she promises him a lifetime of happiness. Mr. Edgar Robinson must make a decision and learn the valuable lesson that money cannot buy happiness because it is gained by helping others.
