Ahmed Mohamed stole the show at Google’s Science Fair. The 14-year-old Irving, Tex., teen stopped by the tech company’s California campus one week after being detained for a DIY clock mistaken for a bomb. Ahmed joined nearly two dozen finalists at Google’s invitation — a tech tour that will take him to the United Nations and White House. “Curious young scientists, inventors and builders like (Ahmed) should be encouraged and empowered,” wrote Mariette DiChristina, Scientific American’s editor-in-chief, in a statement late Monday for the science fair. The visit comes as Ahmed’s father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, on Monday withdrew his three children from Irving Independent School District, according to the Dallas Morning News.
