The First Empire
Around the year 2340 BCE, a king named Sargon (SAHR-GAHN) took his army south conquering the city-states in Sumer. These conquered territories were then united with his own territory of Akkad.
This in turn established the very first empire ever: The Akkadian Empire. This empire would last for more than 200 years.
And empire is a group of many different territories all under the control of one ruling authority.
