Spelling Diagnostic Test for the Students who missed the test
Hello. I miss Clark and I am recording this for any student who missed the second day of school and thereby missed the spelling diagnostic test that we took. It was a quiz. There was no need to plan or prepare. I shared with students that everyone could make a hundred simply by following the directions. This was not about seeing how well they could spell for a grade, but how well they can spell. So I know how to judge their class and which words to start their map so that they might be on grade level. Are excel in their grade level. So those students who miss Tuesday need to take this spelling diagnostic test at home, follow the directions completely and clearly and you'll make a hundred regardless of how well you spell. I want you to be honest. I want you to do your best work even though you're going to get a hundred just for following the instructions. Otherwise, I may need to give you more spelling words every week in order to help you get up to speed and up to level.
So first of all, take a sheet of paper just a regular line sheet of paper. I want you to fold that paper in half. And by the way, this will be a format will be using throughout the year. So learning to do it right will help you with every quiz you take. In the top left hand corner at the top, write your name, write your full name first and last name, always use your full name. Underneath that, write your grade level so you can put 7th grade language arts, 8th grade language arts. If you want to put 9th, our English one that's acceptable, tenth, our English two, 11th, or 12th, our English three, four, that is acceptable as well. For this particular test, I want you to write down spelling, diagnostic test, and I want you to write number two, even though this example says one right number two. And then I want you to start over here, and I want you to number your page one through 25, and then on this side of the crease where you folded it, I want you to write 26 through 50. Okay? I didn't take time to write all those, but I want you to do that. I'm going to continue, but you can pause this, recording until you get that done. Okay?
Now that you have your paper ready to take your spelling quiz ready, I'm going to give you a word, 50 words, and those words will get progressively harder as I go through them. And I want you to write them down. But before you write down how to spell them, I want you to do that without looking it up. I want you to do it on the honor system since you're doing this as a makeup. And I want you to you listen to the word, I'm going to use the word in a sentence, and then I'll stay the word again. Write it down, and then we'll keep going. I may, I'll move faster than I would in class since you can pause this to take time to write the word.
