Songs of Honor | Ojo Amarillo Elementary School's Veterans Day Program | CCSD | Ojo Amarillo, NM

A proud sense of patriotism was apparent as the students at Ojo Amarillo Elementary School presented their songs, poems, cheer demonstrations and instrumental performances to their families and community members on November 11, 2015. As a veteran, current member of the Kansas Air National Guard, and the speech therapist assistant at Ojo Amarillo Elementary, Abby Smith felt a great sense of pride as the students stood up there singing and performing to honor Veterans. As Ojo Amarillo Elementary's music teacher and the Veterans Day program director, Natalia Kruse took many opportunities during rehearsals with the students to teach them to take pride in their country and to be thankful to America's service men and women. She also uses her music classes to reinforce the language, vocabulary and math skills that her students are learning in their core classes.
