physics-Elastic Collision between a Block and Sphere
Elementary / Math / Ratios and Proportions
Hi, I have created this animation , along with equations, to explain a complicated concept for young students to understand (and recall ) in an easy way . Imagine the opposite of a game in a BOWLING ALLEY. A ball is initially stationary on a Horizontal, Friction-less surface. A Block comes in and hits the ball. It's an impact. For a perfectly ELASTIC Collision , the two things Interchange their initial Velocities. In other words, the Block becomes stationary, and the Ball will start moving with the Block's initial velocity ! Sounds Spooky? The zero friction with the surface is theoretical, but it ensures there is no deceleration of the Block and Ball in any motion, and every movement is happening at Constant Velocity.
