Parents, community members, guests, and school officials watched as a parade of students marched up the new chip-sealed access road on November 13, 2015 to Ojo Amarillo Elementary, which replaced a dirt road. The school is located in Ojo Amarillo, New Mexico. As the senior planner working for the Navajo Nation Department of Transportation, Larry Joe, along with San Juan County and the Central Consolidated School District worked to have the project approved and seen to completion. He indicated that it's important for students to have an access road to their school that is safe, which encourages a positive learning environment. First grade teacher Lisa Anderson-Madera, who has taught at the school for 22 years expressed her excitement for the new improvements. She explained that after many years of travelling on a dirt road, the school is grateful for the new and improved access road.
