History
The Mojave Indians lived east of the cahuilla Indians in desert land near the Colorado River.The Mojave live mostly east of the Colorado River and what is now Arizona. The Mojave doesn't cover the large area between the southern tales and Nevada and Arizona. The area of the Colorado River gets very little rain Mojave villages had as many as a hundred people spread out over a mile or two along the river. The Mojave usually shade roofs caught or Mars for cold weather the houses have said while they would cover the walls and drift poles with grass and mud. The Colorado River left rich soil for planting after springtime floods. They gather food through hunting and gathering. They grew corn beans melons and pumpkins. They also make clay pots for storing food and water and for cooking. And the hot desert people did not need to wear many clothes, but inner part of the willow tube was used for closing. Mojave men and women wear their hair long teething it with a mixture of reddish mud and SAP from willow bark. From the hopi to the east they traded for blankets when the weather became colder. Tattoos and paint were used to decorate the faces. The Mojave believed that their dead ancestors might visit them on earth. They would not hurt animals like rattlesnakes, coyotes, or lizards because they believed they were their ancestors watching them.
