Kinetic Molecular Theory

Today, we will learn about the kinetic molecular theory. 00:08-- All matter is composed of particles. Molecules are very small compared to the space between them. Molecules are in constant random but straight line motion. There are no forces of attraction or repulsion between gas particles. The average kinetic energy depends on temperature of the gas. And collisions between molecules are perfectly elastic.
This is probably the one you will struggle with the most. So let?s go over what it means.
We?re gonna define what elastic illusion is and what it isn?t. To make things as simple as possible we have to objects and one dimensional space.. Now as a collision, collision here was in which both kinetic energy and momentum are conserved. This means that the two objects says were separated before and after the collision. This happens by the object bouncing off each other or one same in place after hitting the other.
Let?s look at some examples of elastic collisions. Remember this movies represent molecules that are always moving. They?re very small but they?re always elastic.
So write it down. Matter is molecules. Molecules are moving straight. Molecules are small and molecule collisions are always elastic. There is no attraction or repulsion between gas particles and the average kinetic energy depends on the temperature.
