Ojo Amarillo Elementary School Principal Abena McNeely brings the world to her students with entertainers such as dancers, magicians, Chinese acrobats, and African drummers. This time, pre-k through 6th grade students were introduced to health & fitness concepts through the high energy performance of a former Ringling Brothers Circus clown & United States airman, April Vollm. She dazzled her audience Sept. 23, 2015 with tricks involving an impossibly small bicycle, an acrobatic suspended circus ring, and several activities involving the student audience. Although entertaining, she also had an important message about living healthy, which emphasized three core values - hydration, nutrition, and rest. She encouraged the students to pursue their dreams and to never give up. Ms. McNeely has many more performances and guests planned for the school year to reward the students while providing them with a broadened perspective and appreciation for cultural and personal diversity.
