History of Thanksgiving
History/Social Studies
This is the true story of Thanksgiving. Also known as the pilgrim wampanoag peace treaty. The Puritans arrived at Plymouth in the winter of 1620, and about a year later, as when we have records of the first Thanksgiving. I'm sorry to tell you this, but the colonists and Native Americans weren't actually Friends. King James of England forced them to forge an alliance with chief wampanoag. Also, there are turkeys in Massachusetts, but there was no record of one at the feast. According to diary entries, the one vanilla actually brought dear me. And there was most likely lots of seafood since they were on the coast. Remember that song from your childhood? Well, it happens to be a poem. That was written by Sarah Hale, who coincidentally is the same person who convinced Abraham Lincoln to make Thanksgiving a national holiday.
