High Five for Complete Sentences
The very first thing you need when writing a complete sentence is a subject.
The subject is part of a sentence that is what a sentence is about.
Think about is your subject a person, place or a thing.
Person, places or things are all nouns.
The subject of your sentence is the noun.
The second thing you need to complete a sentence is an action.
An action is what is happening in a sentence or what happened.
Is your person jumping?
Possibly kicking?
Or singing.
Jump, kick and sing are all actions.
Actions are also verbs.
The third thing you need to make a complete sentence is to check if your sentence makes sense.
For a sentence to make sense, it needs to be a complete thought.
It also needs to have no missing pieces.
So make sure you have a subject and action.
To check if your sentence makes sense, you have to go back and read your sentence.
The fourth thing you need to write a complete sentence is capital letter.
The very first letter in your sentence must be capitalized.
It is extremely important.
Also, capitalize names of people, places or things.
Such as a name of a person such as Sally, or a specific place like the Willis Tower, or brand like Minecraft.
The fifth thing you need in order to complete a sentence is Punctuation.
Persians, exclamation points and question marks are the 3 punctuations that you need to use at the end of every single sentence.
Also, you can check your sentence for commas, quotation marks or apostrophes if they are needed. So now let?s check if we can make a complete sentence and give it a high five.
Parker throws the ball to Sam.
Parker is our subject. 1.
Throws is our action. 2.
Makes sense, We can check it off to 3.
Parker starts with a P and S for Sam. And then that?s 4 and 5 for that punctuation mark.
