Header - Footer Assignment
How-To
So for our assignment, we are going to help in a blank document and add header with our name. We're going to in the footer add today's date. So obviously we're going to have to add a footer as well. In the center of the page, that means in addition to alignment needs to be in the center, we're actually going to vertically align it into the center so it's an exact center. We're going to put the word title all caps in 16 point blue, apparently y'all's computers don't have Helvetica so we use Georgia. And then we're going to insert a page break. And the words page two in the center on the document in 16 point boo blue, Georgia, font. So we're going to go ahead and open up from the start menu, go ahead and find word 2016 if you don't see it. Go ahead and scroll on down. All the way at the bottom of the word 2016. We are going to select this blank document. Okay, let me go ahead and view out a little bit a little bit. But you can see the margins of mine as well. Good lord. Is it really? Can you try again? There we go. All right, so you can see everything. Now, when we get to, we need our let's see, let's go back. We need a header with your name. So we're going to the insert tab, it will bring up the insert ribbon where all the tools are organized inside the ribbon. And over here underneath header and footer, we're going to insert a header. It's going to ask us what type we're good with just a blank one, and we're going to type our name. I am mister Thornton. In this case, you can come back to home and you can center it, but it doesn't specify here, it just says you need to insert a header with your name. I'm going to keep it centered just because everything else they want centered. Actually, you know what? Make it left or right aligned, so it's kind of like information you need that isn't pertinent. You need to hit right away. All right. Step two in the footer, we need to add today's date, so let's go to the back to insert right next under the header and photo right underneath it. You've got footer. Again, we're going to do a blank one. Let's go ahead and start with the right alignment. So under the home ribbon, so home, click the home tab to bring up the home ribbon and the alignment tools are organized in the home ribbon, and we're going to select right a line, and today's date will, for me right now, it's a September. 5 comma, two zero one 8. All right, now from the insert, I should be able to click out, click here, there we go. All right, so you notice now that I've clicked out of the header, it kind of grays out my name and the date to let me know that I'm not currently actively editing those. All right, go to the home tab, click so I can bring up the home ribbon under paragraph. We're going to click on center. That means we've horizontally aligned the text to center now we're going to go to the we'll click the layout tab to bling up to bring up the layout ribbon. Under page setup, we're going to click this little box right here. And it's going to bring up a dialog box for page setup. It gives us more options in addition to what's over here. So when you click down here and go to the margins at the bottom, it's also there, but we're clicking right here, bring us the page set up. I'm going to click layout, come down to page under vertical alignment, I want to get center, click okay. And my cursor jumps to the center of the page where I can according to here I need the word title, all caps in 16 point blue, and again, it's going to be Georgia because I don't think we have held that. So let's caps lock title, but ahead and select this. We're going to and in the font because we're all we're doing is editing this word right here. We want the font color to be blue. I don't care what blue, blue, this is kind of a good blue there. Let's change the font size to 16. And let's change. So you should scroll down and under H, you should see how that cut, but it's not there. I don't see it. There's only like three or four of them so we are going to come up to Georgia. Awesome. Now, if you'll recall, under layout, we have all the brakes. We're going to insert a page break. So we're automatically going to come down to the second page, and it brings us vertically horizontally aligned to center again. And this time, we're going to type in page two, and it should carry everything over. So let's review. I've got on the blank document. I added a header with my name. And it has my name. Footer has today's date. There's the photo down at the bottom. Another good thing about headers and footers, they no matter how many pages you have, the automatically get there. In the center of the page title, 16 point Georgia font, there we go in the center and paint on the second page, page break, page two, and the center the second page. There we go. File, save as this PC documents, you will click on your doppelganger up here and the title will be header. Hyphen, but my last name. Good job. Now all you got to do is upload it. Right here.
