FUNdations ABC Chart and Movements demonstration
Hi! Ms. Peters here. Just giving you a quick tutorial about how you practice the FUNdations ABC Chart at home. You'll be doing this using the letter name, the keyword, and the sound. Once your child really knows the sounds really well you can drop the keyword, and I'll show you that at the end of the tutorial.
Today I have a student here who will demonstrate how we do this at home. A, apple, eh. B, bat, buh. C, cat, ceh. D, dog, doh. Good! And you can see that with the B and the D, a lot of students wanna say B, bat, buh. They put the uh in there. If your child does that, just tell them to clip it. That's the same thing I would say in the class clip it. And B, bat, buh, should be B, bag buuh. D, dog, duh, will be D, dog, deh. E, egg, eh. F, fun, fff. G, game, guh. And we're gonna clip that G, game, geh. Try it again.
G, game, geh. H, hat, hoh. I, itch, eh. J, jug, joh. K, kit, keh. L, lamp, luh. M, man, umm. N, nut, unn. O, octopus, ahh. P, pant, poh. QU, queen, kwuh. R, rat, rrr. S, snake, sss. And when we get to unit six, they'll also learn that S is a suffix, so the zz sound that sounds like a Z, we'll add in S, bugs zzz. T, top, teh. U, up, uh. V, van, vvo. W, wind, waah. X, fox, eksss. Y, yellow, yah. Z, zebra, zzz.
Excellent job. Once your student really knows this really well, when they practice it they'll just start saying B, buh, D, duh, F, fff. We always say our keywords for our pink vowel sounds so they'll never drop the keyword for those vowel sounds. Hopefully, this helps. Thanks for tuning in.
