Connotation Lesson

This video is an overview of how to teach students strategies to find the connotation of words in context. By determining if a word in context has a positive or negative connotation the student is able to understand the gist or general meaning of the word. This helps struggling readers to get an overall feeling for what the passage means. By applying this skill to authentic texts students can see that based on the surrounding context words can also change their meaning (+/-) .
