This video first looks at the different ways to represent a division problem including as a fraction. Next the parts of a division problem are named. I then look at why division by 0 is not allowed in mathematics because it creates a contradiction in the mathematical system. I identify three common mistakes in division: 1. performing the incorrect division problem. I try to show how to check to see if you have things backwards. 2. Misplacing the decimal point. 3. Misplacing the digits in the quotient.
