Mrs. Fradette’s 4th grade class from Tucker School is demonstrating the form “Call and Response,” which is often used in Sea Shantey music. Austin and Osaje are singing a duet as the “shanteyman” part. This song is an example of a Sea Shantey from the Northeast region. A Shanteyman had the important job of leading the sailors through song in order to do the tasks on a ship as a team.
