Annotation and Analysis of Poetry

This is a beginning video for my English 11 classes. In this video, I outline what they should already know about the basics of poetry and what I absolutely need them to know in order to discuss poetry effectively in my class. I go on to outline how I would like them to annotate poetry and how to use those annotations for analysis. Finally, I present Whitman's "I Hear America Singing" and go through a video annotation and analysis of this poem for them to copy on a hard copy to use as a model for completing more annotation and analysis on other poems in small groups or as individuals.
