A Family Snowman | Parent Involvement at the Kirtland Early Childhood Center | CCSD | Kirtland, NM
High School / Science / Environmental Science
Parents watched proudly as each preschooler presented their family snowman - the latest take-home project at the Kirtland Early Childhood Center. Parents and peers experienced a range of styles and cultures from cowgirls and Pittsburgh Steelers fans, to hula-snowmen and Filipino princesses. Preschool teacher Jamie Rogers expressed how important it was that the families of her students were involved in this project and continued to be involved in their child's education. Parents like Alisia Hunt and Angela Triplett, who are sisters, enjoy watching their children grow and learn both at home and in school which is why they try to be proactive in their child's education. At the Kirtland Early Childhood Center, students are introduced to a wide variety of learning experiences ranging from letter and number recognition to harder concepts like rhyming and syllable counting. Each day the students are exposed to environments and situations that encourage growth of their social skills, motor skills, and academic skills, all while instilling in them an enjoyment of learning.
