3rd Grade Go Math Lesson 8.7 Homework
Math
Hey guys, so there was some confusion about the homework last night. And I am not surprised because this is very confusing the way they did this. On number one, they have 8 triangles, 6 or shaded, and they say that the fraction is 6 eighths, which makes sense. Except for the fact that they have them split into four groups. I'm not sure why they did that. So we're just going to ignore that. And today, whenever we went over our problems together in small groups, we looked at them like this. This says to think of one container as one whole. So this is one whole container, and this is one whole container. Each container is split into four circles. So each part is one-fourth. How many fourths do we have all together? One, two, three, four, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8, fourths, and how many whole containers do we have? One, two. If we didn't have a picture, we could also solve that by doing 8 divided by four, and that gives us two whole containers. Same thing with number four, this is a whole container. This is a whole container, and this is a whole container. Each one is split into 6 equal parts. Forgive my terrible drawing. So each circle is one 6. We have 6, 12, 18, 18 parts, and each part is called a 6, so we have 18, 6. And that is one, two, three whole containers. I hope that helps.
