Today we are working on multiplying two digit numbers by one digit numbers and today we learn to do that by regrouping. So instead of using partial products where we do 40 times three plus 6 times three, like we did last week, we're going to multiply the ones place first, and then if it's greater than 9, we're going to regroup. So bring that ten stitches up to the tens place. Then we multiply the tens place by the one digit number. So right here we did 6 times three is 18. Regroup bring that one up to the tens place. Four times three is 12. Plus one is 13. So all together 46 times three is 138. And before we actually multiply these numbers, we should get a good estimate. So right here, 46 rounds to 50. And then 50 times three is 150. So then when I'm done, I know that my answer is reasonable because 138 and 150 are close to each other.
