When people hear the word “summer”, they usually associate it with beach season. It has the perfect weather to allow taking a dip in the water. True enough, taking a beach trip is the most common thing for anyone to do during the summer.
It’s not fun anymore, though, if sunburn comes along. People don’t usually feel it while enjoying the cool ocean breeze; the next day, though, it will hurt like hell.
To avoid sunburn spoiling one’s skin, sunscreen lotion is the key. Always apply sunscreen before going out in full view of the sun. Also, for longer sun exposure, it is a good idea to reapply the sunscreen every few hours. Different brands of sunscreen will have different reapplication times, but it’s usually every two or three hours.
The best time to go out for sunlight is in the early hours of the morning, at about 6 am to 10 am. This is where solar radiation is not that intense yet, so it will not harm the skin. The other benefit is that sunlight at these hours helps activate Vitamin D in the body, which contributes to better overall health.
It’s best to avoid sunlight in the middle of the day, specifically during the hours of 10 am until about 2 pm. It’s at these times that the harmful UV radiation is at its most intense, and it’s this thing that can really ruin the skin cells. In fact, too much exposure to UV radiation can cause skin cancer. So for those planning to be out in the sun even in those hours, best to have an umbrella for cover.
Going for a swim at the beach is always appealing, especially in the summer. And it’s best done while ensuring one’s skin stays safe. For this reason, don’t forget to bring sunscreen and an umbrella.
