In 2012 Start Here, Go Places. sponsored a live chat event where students interviewed Sean O'Malley, CPA, Vice President and the Deputy Chief Investigator of the Federal Reserve bank of New York. Sean works in Forensic Accounting attempting to prevent White Collar crime like embezzlement, kick-backs, and theft by monitoring international finance. After graduating with an accounting degree, Sean got a job with a small accountant that he left for a job with the Attorney General's office in New York fighting Medicaid fraud. Now Sean also works to ensure banks have counterfeit systems in place and are compliant with bank Secrecy laws. He's even investigated Saddam Hussein getting illegal kick-backs from financial programs in his country.

In addition to sharing his career path in accounting, Sean talks about what life is like working in law enforcement and working with the FBI and gives advice on how to pursue a career in accounting and pass the CPA exam. Sean also sheds some light on the Certified Fraud Examiners, which helps accounts learn more about investigation and investigators learn more about accounting in order to work in the Forensic and Investigative Accounting field.
