This 5-minute student film won the “Silver” (second place) award in the recent Australian schools “Geo-logi” competition. Geoscience Australia and the National Geographic channel sponsored this inaugural national competition.

It was judged second amongst 39 films entered in the senior division (years 11/12)

In reality, all of the cinematography, editing and sound in this film are the work of one year 8 student. Only the script writing and narration are by several senior students in my Geology class. In South Australia, short films may be submitted for assessment in lieu of the usual written reports of fieldwork required in the year 12 Geology course. Less
