This is the story of my journey to become a teacher. Let's start at the beginning. Well, maybe not that far back. But for as long as I can remember, I loved how many people. In particular, my brother, who didn't always want it. But look how good he turned out. While in high school in Pennsylvania, I contemplated becoming a French teacher because I love my middle school French teacher. I had also had good experiences working with kids through babysitting and teaching swimming lessons in the whole club. Once in college, I thought I wouldn't make enough money teaching, so I decided to major in public relations. And after graduation, I moved to New York City. My first job was with a company that does PR for publishing companies. Unfortunately, I had bad timing. My second day of work was September 11th, 2001. A short two months later, I had been laid off. I really loved living in the city despite all that had happened. However, I started to feel more and more like this was not what I was put on this earth to do. I got laid off from another job and that's solidified it for me. I needed a change. I traveled to exciting places all over the country. All the while trying to decide if teaching would be right for me. Would I be able to handle the demands that teaching places on a person? Would I even be any good at it? I still didn't know exactly what color my parachute was. I began looking into education programs all over the U.S. and attending meetings about what these colleges offered. I eventually decided that I really liked the program that UC San Diego had to offer. So I picked up everything and drove cross country from New York to San Diego in September of 2005. As I got closer and closer to the West Coast, I felt like I was making the right decision. After making it to San Diego, I worked in finance for a year and started taking all the tests that I needed to be accepted to the university. I put my finance job to become a substitute teacher, which was one of the most valuable experiences in teaching that I've ever had. In June 2007, I started the program at UC San Diego. It has been one crazy year, and I have learned so much about the field of education. Tell me what's that for you happy with what you guys been witnessing Second World War I well you never gonna get it through it's like tell me what's that for putting sand you have to wait for it to come there's guys been wasting Second World War. Now it's back to the beginning. I am the new kid in school again. Back to elementary school only this time as the teacher I hope to continue to learn more about education as well as myself in the years to come. I am looking forward to teaching students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. I want to make education accessible to all types of students and create a caring community of learners. I want to instill an excitement for learning in my students and watch the lightbulb go on when they learn something new. I want to make a difference in my own little part of the world. It starts with one child, but doesn't stop there. I am so excited to be doing something that I love. And I hope that I can show that to my students.
